Lithium Ion Batteries

Li-ion batteries are a rapidly evolving technology with recent emphasis on efficiency, lifetime, and safety improvements. Many cathodes and anodes lose effectiveness due to surface degradation from electrolyte interaction. A barrier coating can prevent this degradation and improve efficiency, but too thick of a coating prevents ion transfer and ruins performance. ALD coatings can create this barrier and are thin enough to minimize effect on performance. The process can be applied to free flowing particles and powders, as well as formed electrodes.
