Lithium Ion Batteries

Li-ion batteries are a rapidly evolving technology with recent emphasis on efficiency, lifetime, and safety improvements. Many cathodes and anodes lose effectiveness due to surface degradation from electrolyte interaction. A barrier coating can prevent this degradation and improve efficiency, but too thick of a coating prevents ion transfer and ruins performance. ALD coatings can create this barrier and are thin enough to minimize effect on performance.
