collaboration for Particle ALD™

June 14th, 2010 – Helsinki (FI) and Boulder (CO, US) – Beneq, leading provider of new industrial equipment and technology based on atomic layer deposition (ALD) equipment, and ALD NanoSolutions, renowned developer of ALD processes and applications, including proprietary Particle ALD™ and Polymer ALD™, have today signed a letter of intent (LOI) for future collaboration.  Full press release.

ALD NanoSolutions Protects Polymers on
International Space Station

May 1, 2009 – ALD NanoSolutions, Inc. has announced that its proprietary ALD films are protecting polymer samples from the space environment on the International Space Station (ISS).  Polymer samples coated with thin multilayer metal oxide barrier coatings deposited by ALD have been mounted on the exterior of the ISS.  These samples are being exposed to the perils found in low Earth orbit, which include high velocity oxygen atom and high energy UV radiation.  Data from these experiments is being sent back to Earth for evaluation, and the samples will be examined once they are brought back to Earth later this year.  Full press release.

ALD NanoSolutions Awarded $99,000 Phase I SBIR DARPA Grant

April 4, 2009 – ALD NanoSolutions, Inc. has announced the award of a $99,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for “Flexible Gas Diffusion Barriers Using ALD/MLD Multilayers and Roll-to-Roll Processing.”  The award, effective May 14, 2010 – November 14, 2010, will be used to develop flexible hybrid inorganic/polymer multilayer gas diffusion barriers using atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD).  These multilayer barriers should produce unprecedented flexible barrier performance, enabling next generation technology in flexible organic light emitting diodes (FOLEDs) and thin film photovoltaics. Collaboration Agreement

Particle ALD™ coating platform to be used to develop advanced electronic materials and applications.

February 10, 2010 – Broomfield, Colo. – ALD NanoSolutions, Inc. (ALDN), the leader in digital coating solutions for composite materials, announced today an alliance with Tyco Electronics (NYSE: TEL) to develop surface coatings for a variety of electronics applications.  Under the long-term agreement, the companies will work together to utilize ALDN’s surface engineering technology to develop and fabricate thin films for certain electronic applications designed to specifically enhance performance.  Full press release.

November 24, 2009 – ALD NanoSolutions, Inc. has announced the award of a $150,000 Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant from the Department of Energy for “Scale-up of the Nanomanufacturing of Coated Powders for Superior Battery Electrode Materials.” This award is funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).  Full press release.

February 2009 – ALD NanoSolutions, Inc. has announced the award of a $622,595 Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) for “Protecting Polymers from the Natural Space Environment with Films Grown Using Atomic Layer Deposition.” The award will be used to develop customized coating solutions for protecting polymers commonly used on space vehicles from damage due to radiation, ions, and oxidation.
