P. Michael Masterson, Co-Founder, CEO and Chairman
Mike Masterson is an entrepreneur and executive with over 25 years experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, nanotech, and energy industries. His career incorporates venture creation experience as a founding CEO, BOD Chairman, and Venture Partner. During his career, Mike has raised over $100M in venture capital which has created over $500M in equity valuation. Mike currently serves as the Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of ALD NanoSolutions, Inc., Advisor and former BOD member for Sundrop Fuels, Inc., and Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Nemucore Medical Innovations, LLC.
Previously, Mike served as the Co- Founder and CEO of Copernican Energy which was merged into Sundrop Fuels which attracted a $150M equity investment from Chesapeake Gas in 2011. Mike also served as Chairman and CEO of Xcellerex, Inc. where he successfully transitioned Xcellerex from a seed-stage biomanufacturing venture to a sustainable company by raising over $30M in venture capital from a syndicate that included Kleiner Perkins and Vantage Point Venture Partners. Mike’s career also includes experience as a Venture Partner at Flagship Ventures where he was founding CEO of multiple ventures, including BG Medicine (NASDAQ: BGMD). He was also Co-founder/CEO of Kemper-Masterson, Inc. (acquired by Parexel International, Inc. – NASDAQ: PRXL).
Mike is also currently the Vice-Chairman at the Wentworth Institute of Technology as well as an “Entrepreneur in Residence” for a joint program between the Isenberg School of Business and the School of Engineering at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Mike holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an M.S. in the same discipline from the University of Colorado. In addition, he received a Certificate from the Owners/Presidents Management (OPM) Program at the Harvard Business School. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and Massachusetts.
